Huber Engineered Materials: Price Increase for Industrial Ground Calcium Carbonate  Link...

ATLANTA, GA, Nov. 3, 2014 – Huber Engineered Materials, a division of J.M. Huber Corporation, announces a price increase for its industrial calcium carbonate products. The price increase does not apply to Huber’s food and USP calcium carbonate grades. The increase is effective Dec. 1, 2014, or as current contracts allow. Prices will increase an average of five to 10 percent depending on product grade and packaging. While Huber continues to focus on minimizing the inflationary impact on its ground calcium carbonate business, cost increases in materials, packaging, freight, regulatory compliance, labor and capital investments necessitate the pricing adjustment. Huber’s industrial calcium carbonate products are used in a variety of consumer and industrial applications, including building materials; drilling fluids; rubber; thermoset composites; thermoplastics; swimming pool aggregate; pet food; cultured marble; paints and coatings; and adhesives, caulks and sealants.

Titan Tire Reclamation Corp: New Tire Pyrolysis Unit in Canada  Link...

QUINCY, Ill.—Titan International Inc., through its Titan Tire Reclamation Corp. subsidiary, plans to set up a pyrolysis unit in the Canadian oil sands to reclaim rubber, carbon black and steel from off-road tires and conveyor belting. Titan Tire Reclamation has secured a 10-year lease on 10 acres of land north of Fort McMurray, Alberta, for the unit, which will use a pyrolysis system developed by Green Carbon L.L.C., which is controlled by Fred Taylor, brother of Maurice Taylor Jr., Titan International Chairman and CEO. Titan said it expects to have the system operating by summer 2015 with a capacity to process 100 million pounds of rubber annually. Titan envisions having a second unit operating west of Edmonton “shortly after the initial launch” in Fort McMurray, a town of 60,000 about 275 miles north of Edmonton. The company claimed in 2013 it expects its recycling activities will generate $250 million or more a year in revenue from the sale of reclaimed oil, carbon black and steel. It did not say how much it plans to invest in the start-up. The Green Carbon system uses 75 percent of gas from tires in a special reactor, Titan said. Each 59.00R63 tire produces approximately 500 gallons of oil, 4,000 pounds of carbon black and 2,000 pounds of steel. TTRC will target oil companies as the potential customers for the business’s bio fuel, which can be refined into bio kerosene, Titan said. The steel is 1075 carbon, which can be reclaimed for the production of tool bits on shovels and bulldozers. Titan will use the carbon black byproduct in its own tire production, and the company will generate carbon credits as well, although Titan is unable at this time to quantify the amount. “It is TTRC’s plan to move on to new locations as acreage becomes available and new customers commit to the process,” Maurice Taylor said. “The Titan team has been working for three years to prove this process and is pleased this is progressing favorably. It is gratifying to move forward as we feel this system is extremely eco-friendly.” Titan is also active in the Canadian oil sands supplying giant OTR tires to the mining operations there.

Green Distilation Technologies: Plannning Tire Pyrolysis Plant  Link...

New South Wales (NSW), Australia − Every year millions of used car tires are discarded in Australia and most are never properly disposed of but when a tire recycling plant opens at Warren (NSW) next year, that will begin to change, reported The Daily Liberal. Green Distillation Technologies (GDT) hopes its Warren plant will be open in July next year and will break down more than half a million tires a year into reusable carbon, steel and oil. The facility will arrive at an important time. It was revealed earlier this week that an NSW tire recycler, Carbon Polymer, had not disposed of a single tire in the time it had been operating and had tens of thousands of tires at its Smithfield site. Its permit only allowed it to have 5,000. GDT director Trevor Bayley said the revelation showed there was a need for more recyclers to step in and help with the growing problem. "We are progressing well, heading towards the construction of a commercial module in Warren in July next year," Bayley said. "The plant would be able to process about 650,000 tires a year, which is about 2 to 3 percent of the tires used each year.

PYReco Ltd: Looking for Investment Boost in Risk Adverse Conditions  Link...

Bosses behind a major tyre recycling plant on Teesside say “risk-averse” investors are making it difficult to secure vital funding. But two separate deals with global investors have fallen through in as many years, leaving the project struggling to get off the ground. Bosses are determined their “no-risk” project, which is entirely under-written by Metso, a major global supplier to the process industries, will be built.
